Katy started her classical ballet training at age eight where she began to grow her technical foundation as a dancer. Before joining One Broadway as an assistant in her pre-professional career, she trained at Harrisburg Dance Conservatory under the instruction of Rosemary Battista and Kristina Showalter-Grant. Katy also attended intensives with Pennsylvania Regional Ballet and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. She recently earned dual degrees from Towson University; a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. While at Towson, she trained with a variety of dance professionals, including Catherine Horta-Hayden, Runqiao Du, and Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell. Katy’s versatility as a dancer was showcased in various roles throughout her time at Towson. She performed lead roles in Towson University Dance Company’s biannual productions, including Don Quixote, Paquita, and an original work by Runqiao Du, Carmina Burana. She also was Founder and President of the accredited National Honors Society of Dance Arts Towson Chapter, an affiliate organization of NDEO. Lastly, Katy received grant funding to research the importance & efficacy of social media use in the dance industry which included interviewing the marketing professionals at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Katy is excited to be back teaching at One Broadway temporarily before she begins her career as a professional dancer.
